You can get it in 3 lines (apparently, don't have a Mac handy right now).

    brew install llvm libsodium openssl xxhash zstd

    curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf https://sh.rustup.rs | sh

    cargo install pijul --version "~1.0.0-alpha"

But yeah, I can see how that might hurt adoption.

I reinstalled rust per your line 2 but the build still failed. Oh well.

It also barfed on my wife's Mac (which has not been loaded with a mish-mash of development stuff), so I give up. If nobody else is reporting the same problems as I'm having then I guess it's just that I'm having a bad hair year.
