These stories have hammered home two points for me:
* You probably shouldnt use email for sensitive communications ever again.
* While it's not worth self hosting a mail server to send and receive email there's still a huge privacy value in hosting email storage and using a service that only passes on emails via POP3/SMTP (ideally with minimal logs).
