I cannot believe Tesla is developing humanoid robots. That, to me, would be a monumental shift for humanity. Do people not understand that has the potential to completely revolutionize labor forever? Tesla is at the scale where they can supply robots to the entire world, it's only a matter of ironing out the technology.

Elon is so obsessed with Starship but at the end of the day landing on Mars is mostly a novelty. The Tesla bot would have a vastly greater impact on humanity, for better or worse.

I agree. Starship, at the moment, is a novelty — at least for now in our lifetime. But yes, humanoid robots will have the most profound impact in our lives. I see general purpose robots as a platform. Once they know how to traverse through a world for humans, then it will be up to developers to build on top of it all the utility they can imagine. Somewhat like the iPhone. Apple figured out how to build a portable touch screen computer. This is the platform. Its the App Store that make its utility explode. Likewise, hardware attachments and applications running on the bot that interact with its APIs will make its utility explode. We are in for a radically new feature very soon.
