I'm a sponsor of the Homebrew project on GitHub. My Macs are running macOS Mojave 10.14.6 for reasons that aren't relevant here. I have no interest in upgrading.
The announcement states that Homebrew is "dropping the support for Mojave due to us only supporting 3 macOS versions." I'd like someone on the core team to explain exactly how this will affect my use of Homebrew going forward. Thanks.
"792 sponsors are funding Homebrew’s work." on github alone, and there are more on the Patreon and donating directly.
Your name is not in the README, so you are on the bottom 4 tiers, they get at most $30/month from you.
For $30 (or less) a month, I don't think it is reasonable to expect them to do extra work to support an a 4th OS version. This is less than half an hour of work at commercial company rates, probably much less.
If they have limited resources, I'd rather them improve support for the modern OSs, instead of spending them on old stuff.
Of course, that's the perfect response for our times. Don't try to understand the question and respond intelligently, just respond with an ad hominem attack on the source.
Worth noting that "support" for Homebrew just means officially supported; it doesn't stop working or anything. It's perfectly fine on my 10.11/El Capitan.
