Sex reassignment surgery isn't a requirement for being trans. That's not what skyrocketed in the UK either, what skyrocketed are hormone treatments and puberty blockers, both of which will not make your penis disappear one day.

Do you have a source on that? It is interesting because it use to be that transsexuals were said to be more likely the other way round.

But it was unclear whether it was due to diagnosis practices or really difference in rates of condition.
