Interest in Switching to iPhone Drops Among Android Users (macrumors.com)

Apple told us it was locking down the platform to free us from malware spying on us. Now it told us it is forcing us to install malware to spy on us. It's no longer a compromise, it's the worst of both worlds: neither security nor freedom.

The results do not surprise me.

Also, this is tangential, but...

> This is a drop of 14.8 percent.

No, it's a drop of 44.7%, or 14.8 percentage points.

> 10.4 percent said that "intrusive" scanning for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) was the main reason for not switching.

Because of the recent CSAM debacle, 10.4% choose to stick with an operating system designed specifically for data-mining every byte of your phone for targeted advertising. This does not make sense to me.

Same reason why the majority of android users won't switch is why I won't upgrade my iPhone - no fingerprint support

Comment unclear, will recommend Pixel with GrapheneOS anyhow. Fingerprint feature is useful.

Hi, Would you mind explaining why Fingerprint is preferable to FaceID?

I know it's less secure but it makes contactless payment with the phone much easier. Also masks!

Masks.

photographs can unlock the phone

They can not! Do your research …

This is a video where two dudes spend a lot of time failing to unlock the iPhone with photos...
