Yeah if you are building static websites you of course do not need React. React is useful building dynamic websites which is exactly what it's built for and the way that the modern web is going (in terms of interactive applications). It makes sense for frontend devs who want to work for a SaaS to know React. If you are building landing pages, not so much.
