Live in Sydney and have had the cockatoos in our bins a few times in the past six months. They’re pretty brazen too, caught them at it a while ago and they carried on like I wasn’t there.

Started leaving a brick on the lid which seems to work.




I tried that, worked for a while then they figured out how to push the rocks/bricks off.

I then tried a short rope which required unhooking to open the bin... they chewed through it immediately.

The only thing that worked in the end was a metal chain secured to a bolt.
