I don't have much to say about the tools described in the article, but what I do find interesting is that folks closely associated with Blenders development actually make movies.
I wish the folks that made Unity actually shipped a videogame every year.
I kind of agree. The tech demos are nice but that's not really dogfooding. Unreal has Fortnite and the rest of Epic's catalog. I remember when Unreal was known for buggy vehicles - not since Fortnite started with the lowly shopping cart almost two years ago and that's a criticism I never hear now.
That's a good point, unity has the higher numbers but unreal battletest their engine.
I think it shows too in the nature of unity vs unreal. A common criticism of unity has been that too many things are half-baked. Sometimes it's good to suffer your own products :D
The only tool from the article that I can speak about with any sense of "authority" (and that only as an end-user) is Blender itself, but my personal experiences with it make me very much want to explore their other software offerings now that I've read this article. Nothin' but pure gold comin' out of the Blender foundation these days. Fantastic tool for all manner of fun 3D and video production. :)
Anyone interested in tryin'a actually learn how to use Blender should run a search for "Blender 3D tutorials" on YouTube and start watchin' and playin' along. Totally too much fun! :)
