I thought LLVM's LD was pretty good, but I'll have to give this a read.

I don't think it's competing with lld as a general purpose linker. If you're interested in advances in those, I suggest looking at mold and the in-progress work in zig, which both seem to tackle link speed in different and interesting ways.
