It's probably more fair to say that as far as "exotic" brands go, Ferrari has never deviated and produced a boring sedan or suv based no some other companies car.

Maseratti, Porsche, and Lamborghini are good examples of companies that make supercars that also make some pretty pedestrian models. To make it worse, those are usually built on an existing car platform from another manufacturer. Not to say those cars are bad, they just don't belong at an exotic car meet.

The Masseratti Ghibli, the Porsche Macan/Cayenne and whatever the Lambo SUV is called all fit this mold.

Sadly a Ferrari SUV is coming, though...

Abomination!

Indeed. I guess it's one of the problems of becoming a public company - numbers gotta go up and up... It's supposed to be on sale in 2022 but I expect Covid will delay it a bit, the entire factory was shut for months last year.

I know a couple of people with supercars of one sort or another, and they'll argue about how they accelerate faster than a Ferrari, corner better than a Ferrari, etc.

I'll just say "but it's not a Ferrari."

And they say, "sigh, I know."

Ferrari has amazing marketing.

I remember a tire ad in the 80's that went like:

Q: "Why do all Ferraris come with Pirelli tires?" A: "Because Enzo Ferrari wants it that way."

Q.E.D.

Yeah, they kinda are the Apple of the supercar world, with a reality-distortion field to boot. The color alone is a triumph of branding for the ages. McLaren is currently trying to do it with orange, but it's just not the same...

I just don't want an orange car. :-/

You'll see a blue Ferrari now and then, but I bet its resale value is at least 10% lower.
