This article is based on watching Task Manager which I can't imagine is an accurate picture of how much RAM you "need". There is no reason to care about your machine swapping sometimes as long as it's subjectively performing well.

This is not true if you bump the RAM amount in every machine you sell and end up using the world's supply of cheap RAM up. Build to order doesn't have that risk since most people won't do it.
