The patch in the posted mail thread is mostly harmless nonsense too. It's a no-op change that doesn't introduce a bug; at worst it makes the code slightly less readable.
then the title of this post is false, but given their previous paper they probably wanted to inject more serious bugs. if only noop code can pass, then if anything it's good for linux
(this is not really noop, it would add some slight delay)
