I grew up in a household where we never ordered delivery. We always picked it up. And, even then, it was a race to get it home while it was still warm - even putting the bags in the footwell of the passenger seat with the heater running full blast.
Maybe we were just impatient. Maybe Dad didn't like cold delivery food. Maybe both. But I'll still get in the car and pick it up rather than wait 2 hours for a harried GrubHub guy to bring me the wrong, cold food. I never saw picking it up in person as a big hassle.
