13 years of experience in the blasting (ie fragmentation of rock with explosives) industry, primarily in construction, heavy construction, demolition, underwater work, and environmental remediation. I have a particular focus on technical blasting near vulnerable structures or utilities. Currently working as Senior Project Engineer, Blasting on a megaproject.
Sure I'm a bit outside the typical experience envelope for this community, but who knows who might need something blown up?
Thanks! It may be cooler than it sounds, there's lots of annoying paperwork and red tape, then hours of backbreaking manual labor to actually put the explosives in the ground.
On the other hand, you get to make things explode.
I’m a senior developer (sometimes team lead) with 20 years experience across a wide range of companies and industries, taking in startups, SMEs, fintech and government agencies.
I work as a contractor, generally staying with a company for 1-3 years. Recent contracts have included building a Regulatory Risk Management app for a fintech company and working on a greenfield customs app for the Irish mail service to handle Brexit changes.
Technologies used in recent years have all been Microsoft based (.Net, SQL Server and Azure), along with some frontend Javascript frameworks. My preference is for backend work.
I’m also a strong C++ developer, and have built numerous desktop apps using WinForms and DevExpress UI components over the years.
I’m open in terms of contract length and am happy working 3-5 days a week. I have a window for starting something new right now (Covid), but I don’t expect that to stay open too long.
Is your project at the stage where it needs some art to prettify it? Would you like to get something with more personality than some generic stuff you got off of a stock art site? Would you like to work with an artist who is nerdy enough to hang out on Hacker News?
Then maybe I can make your thing look prettier.
Location: New Orleans
Remote: only
Willing to relocate: hell no
Technologies: Adobe Illustrator, yes I can give you SVGs if that's what you want - lemme know up front though as not all of my tricks will work in that format
Wow I really like your work. I wish we saw more art related posts around here, I used to follow all sorts of graphic artists and design blogs before google reader got killed off, and I love that escape from the technical side of life.
Technologies: Currently knowledgeable about Python (including Flask, pyside, and pandas stuff) and emacs lisp. Willing to learn anything though.
CV: Currently no coding experience. I'm a CPA who has always had an interest in programming and tech who is sortof exploring a career change. I don't have any formal education in CS, but I have been working on a side project with some friends of mine that may or may not go anywhere. I have experience using version control with other people, have contributed (minor) changes to open source projects. I have been using debian on desktop for probably about ten years, as well as maintaining a server. Very comfortable in a command line. I also use emacs as my editor of choice, have fooled around with making some major modes and stuff. This is to say, I'm looking for an entry-level job but without the formal education.
My actual work experience is four years of work experience in auditing companies. Very knowledgeable about anything financial. Also willing to consult if you have financial reporting or maybe (Canadian) tax questions. Also maybe interested in other finance related jobs if you're looking for a CPA who is interested in tech as well.

I'm an all-round generalist backend engineer with over 4 years of experience and have spent the majority of my career working in fast-paced startup environments. At my current company, I've played a critical role in the design of among many things, the architecture of our inventory, payment processing and billing system. Before joining them, I helped build data aggregation tools and a monitoring dashboard for a UK based Non-Profit that focuses on early childhood development. More in my resume.
I am currently interning with a national laboratory but would like to keep my eye out for other opportunities, and there are some awesome employers here on HN. I recently graduated with a BS in Computer Science, and I worked as a web developer for over three years when I was younger. My current internship has given me experience in the Python, Java, and C/C++ languages, while allowing me to work with Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Gitlab (w/ CI/CD), and other technologies, and I'm always willing to learn the stack necessary for a job.
- Remote: Sure! Maybe preferred? Also open to hybrid options.
- Willing to relocate: For a dream job, maybe.

Would love to work as a product analyst, or in operations for a growing company. I'm a hard worker and learn quickly. I've just had weird jobs (current one pays the bills) and it makes it harder to find another job doing X if I haven't done X for Y number of years. :/ I know that if someone gives me a chance I will really show what I'm capable of!
Looking for opportunities in scientific computing, geometry processing, graphics, computer vision, and/or machine learning. I have over 3 years of experience working on problems in scientific computing, deep learning, backend engineering, physics simulations, and graphics at startups and research labs.
With over 10 years of full stack web development experience, I'm interested in solving business problems with useful and practical software. I do my best work in complex long-term projects where technical tradeoffs can be openly discussed and involvement in product design and UX is possible.
I'm currently learning modern frontend tech (TypeScript, React, Next.js, ...) and kubernetes; and willing to learn new backend stacks if required, especially Python or Kotlin.

I’m ready to crush it as a summer intern (May through August)! I have internship experience, I’ve founded and sold my own company, and I’m a quick study! I’m currently finishing my first year as a computer science and business student at UBC.
Please don't use emojis - even the majestic Canadian flag. HN is a text based site, so I've taken that out now. (Yes, we have software to filter those and yes it has holes.) Also, visual gimmicks in job ads, even textual ones like ASCII art, end up in an arms race where people are competing to get attention, so it's best not to go there.
Good luck getting that internship! I'm sure you'll do great!
IT Support and Project Manager with 5+ years experience in the FEC industry. Planned and executed large scale AV and

Résumé/CV: https://momo.software/resume.pdf
Email: hello[at]momo.software or jessenhamilton[at]gmail.com
Not yet listed in the CV are my side projects. Most can be found on my site at https://momo.software/portfolio.html, and within the past week I launched a newsreader app on the Google Play Store (awaiting acceptance on iOS App Store) and am currently working with another client to get her event coordination/vacation booking site running.
It is my personal goal to move to the Toronto area. Ideally, I'd be working in the area under a worker's visa, or in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area, either onsite or remote. Otherwise, I am open to positions all over the US and Canada.
I'm a senior software engineer with over 8 years of experience. I've worked with startups, big companies, and even co-founded a few business. My main focus is on backend development with Python Django but over the years I've touched many different technologies (React, Objective-C, C#, C++, Go, WebRTC, etc.).
I love to solve hard problems in simple ways and to get from zero to one as swiftly as possible while not sacrificing quality. To achieve this I always try to deeply understand the business perspective of the product and identify the most important areas to focus on. The combination of management and deep technical skills is what I feel is my biggest strength.
I am available for a fixed term contract (up to 3 months) which may be a perfect fit to build your MVP or help your startup right after seed round before you scale up the team. I also have my two friends and colleagues with pretty similar background (senior full stack engineer and product manager/designer) at disposal in case your project is more demanding. Let me know on LinkedIn if you are interested.
- I am full stack engineer with a passion for front end and React. I like to build minimalistic user interfaces.
Looking for an opportunity to contribute to an awesome team!
email: dcolinmorgan@gmail.com (also my username for github and linkedin)
I love plotting and data visualization.
I am finishing a postdoctoral fellowship at harvard medical school looking to break out of academia. My PhD dissertation was in graph and network theory, applying nonlinear models to biodata (all kinds of 'omics) and I now work on time course trajectory modeling with LSTMs mostly, as well as integration of many 'omics to predict novel therapeutics
10 year experience with almost 5 years experience with AWS (SA/DevOps pro certs and specialty ones). Started as Java developer (long time ago!) but quickly moved to DevOps as I love pipelines and workflows in general. Mainly working with Python 3/CDK today but keen to learn other languages/frameworks when using them make sense (Terraform/Ansible/Go/Typescript). Current title is Cloud DevOps architect but I do not mind coding as well.
Based in NZ, I would not mind working for Australia (West Island as we say ;)) and/or the US as the timezones are friendly if the working hours are flexible. Can also work for an EU based company but time difference (+10 at the moment) might be a problem :).
Ideally a working environment with excellent communications patterns and where people are keen to share and learn. Finally, I want to keep working with AWS technologies - ideally the serverless ones.
Looking for an internship/summer job/fellowship/whatever you want to call it! I have sizable development experience (at least relative to my age), so I may be able to really contribute to your team. [0]
Especially in human-centered design, tech policy, privacy, systems programming, and security.
Location: Stanford, CA / New York, NY (depending on pandemic situation...)
Remote: yes
Willing to relocate: yes
Technologies: Python, Rust, Elixir, JS/web stack, C, some Haskell, some Lisp, containerization and Kubernetes, general UX work, Linux/public clouds, some cryptography and networking. Some experience with Erlang/OTP.
During the journey to complete the program in (MSc) Econometrics & Management Science (i.e Statistics) I have acquired an extensive repertoire on the methods used in the Frequentist and Bayesian schools of statistics for a variety of problems. In addition, to the more traditional statistics I have an interest in the Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) space and have also participated in several Kaggle competitions (i.e. the Human Protein Atlas Challenge). These curricular and extracurricular pursuits have provided me with a good perspective on the strengths and weaknesses of the different schools of thought with regards to solving complex modelling problems. What makes me tick is the application of the latest theoretical developments to practical use cases and in the process get acquainted with the ever-changing world of frameworks and libraries that goes with it. I would love to start out in a Junior Data Scientist position, if my profile resonates with you, let me know ;)
As a software engineer, I have significant experience with technologies mentioned above. I have experience in designing and building distributed environments, distributed systems, design, and maintaining high-quality code. I believe my skillset, desire to innovate would make me a great asset.
Location: Currently South East Asia (UTC+7), very flexible with working hours, can accommodate most timezones, experienced remote worker.

Hi I’m Mark, a Web Developer, Consultant and Automation Engineer originally from the UK. I specialise in devops/system tools, workflow automation integrations, and NodeJS web development.
10+ years working in IT, experienced delivering large projects for Fortune 500 companies internationally, and working remotely.
Most recently I’ve been developing social media SaaS and statically generated (a.k.a Jamstack) websites, built using GitHub actions, deployed to Netlify.
About: For the last decade I've been running the Smoothieware.org Open-Source CNC controller project and community, as well as robotseed.com that sells machines using the Smoothieware technology, both from our catalog, and as custom design work.
With COVID-19, business has been difficult, most of our usual customers aren't really able to make big purchases, so I'm looking for remote work until things settle down.
I was a web dev and automation nut before Smoothie, and since/as part of that project, I've had to learn/use a lot of front and backend tech, including SPAs as control interfaces for machines etc.
I'm a fast learner, fully self-taught, and open to anything. Used to working in teams, passionate about Open-Source and documentation.
Can do part-time, full-time, or even contract work.

I have a position available with Fold... Fold is building the payments stack for a new economy— one that puts privacy and bitcoin within reach of every shopper. While current on-ramps are complex, expensive and primarily built for speculators, we believe in ushering in the next wave of adoption via on-ramps built for everyone else: spenders, earners and savers.
We have a couple of openings on our Technical Team... Are you interested in discussing these positions further?
I'm an expert engineer and data professional interested in consulting and architecting data pipelines. At Edmunds.com, I worked on a fairly successful ad-tech product and my team bootstrapped a data pipeline using Spark, Databricks, and microservices built with Java, Python, and Scala.
These days, I consult for a "new media" company you probably heard of and, over the past year, I re-built an ETL Kubernetes stack, including data loaders and extractors that handle >10,000 API payload extractions daily. More recently, I helped migrate said stack to Google serverless cloud functions.
My area of expertise includes data interoperability with Facebook Marketing, Facebook Graph, Instagram Graph, Google DFP, Salesforce, etc. That I'm a top-tier developer goes without saying. I'm interested in getting new clients and can help with best practices, architecture, and hiring.
Would love to connect even if it's just for networking!
Technologies: Historically, Rust and React/JS have been the main ones, but would love to branch out, especially in the functional direction. I am interested in working with any number of FP languages -- Scala, Clojure, Haskell, even slightly esoteric ones including ML and Elm.
After 5 years of experience developing software full-time, I am interested in joining a productive company with a strong mission and strong engineering culture. The exact vertical is not important, as I've worked in automotive, analytics, and healthcare with success. My skills have been proven primarily through building interfaces and tooling, as well as some full stack and backend development. Previous tech lead experience. Hopefully I can bring a unique perspective to the team.
I’m looking for some job, where I’ll work with React and receive some back-end experience. I have a 2-year experience with React and Redux. I have a half-a-year experience working as a front-end developer in Catch Creation (remote). I was working with JQuery, CSS, plain JS, PHP and Convertize experiments. Furthermore, I wrote all the code for a Ukrainian cosmetics store by myself with React, Redux, Express.js and SQL (you can take a look through it in my CV). I also have passed courses and received certificates for React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and JSON on Coursera, you can look through them in my CV as well. Contact me on LinkedIn or by the e-mail for future opportunities.

I build products for more than 7 years now with my tiny team. We bootstrap our own products and help others deliver theirs.
I am the product manager and product designer of the team. I do all the designs needed to have a product - from product ideation, wireframing to beautifully crafted pixels, landing pages, logos, branding, social media presence design, and more.
I am not a typical UI or UX designer. For me, design is the glue of the product. It reflects and combines business needs, the problem and the target audience, the technical team, time frame and so much more to deliver a working and beautiful experience to users.
I am available for a short-term contract (2-3 months). Let me know if you are interested.
Design is the “cheapest” asset your product can have to build trust and empathy.

Hello, my name is Dillon. I like thinking about ways to make technology approachable. Put another way, I like translating nerdy stuff into tools normal people can use. Computers are magical to me and I want to contribute my work to something more meaningful than, say, advertising. Instead, I want to bring this magical-feeling to people through my work.
My career has manifested in digital design, but if given the chance I would love to try designing physical things, too. In my work I value simplicity, accessibility, and reusability (I was a front-end dev for four years and understand the value of designs that can be built easily).
I'm a boring designer. In my free time I design the most boring Mac apps. For example, here is a mockup interface I made for an open source macOS app that I love: https://dillonbrown.me/images/mockups/finicky-1.png. To me, boring is beautiful, boring is usable and reliable. I don't make dribbble show-ponies, I make workhorses.
Please take a look at my website (https://dillonbrown.me) to get a sample of the kind of work I can make for you.

Data scientist with 15 years experience - Before people even knew to call themselves "data scientists".
I'm an experienced data scientist who is looking for new projects to take on. My usual consultancy has taken on a massive healthcare project which I'm not able to participate in as I'm Canadian. So I'm out looking for projects myself.
My past projects have included things like wound identification, AR repayment prediction, mechanical systems failure prediction, and chat agents.
I'm currently very interested in ML safety/security. This is a Greenfield area that no one is taking seriously at the moment. I expect it to be extremely important in the near future.
My contact details are in the profile if you're looking for someone to join your team, or if you want to collaborate on a project.
Location: Working remotely at home in Southern California, office and apartment in Portland, OR.

Looking for any junior/entry positions, tech doesn't matter too much. Had experience developing part of an ecommerce site in angular, worked on a good amount of C++/C projects working around the OS in uni, would love to get into that field more.
Contact through LinkedIn is preferred. Not using my main account just for privacy sakes.
Full Stack Software Engineer with 2+ years working mainly in startups.
Experience building regular MVC websites, SPAs, REST APIs, web scrapers.
Looking for work in SaaS, space, fintech, e-commerce/retail or marketing but open to any other area except crypto. I also enjoy doing work involving computer graphics (2D and 3D). I also have a background in Electrical Engineering so I'm fine with anything involving strong math, physics or electronics.
I'd like to be hired to work on open source projects. I've been working on and using open source for about 20 years, principally on the Debian project.
I'm a senior software engineer specializing in Android, Flutter and Rails. I've been contracting remotely for the past 5 years working on mobile apps, web apps and APIs.
I'm passionate about clean code, software architecture and doing things right and some of my work can be seen on Github: https://github.com/dmilicic
I also have experience in team lead/mentorship positions, improving productivity for teams by teaching devs and building internal tools.
I'm looking for full-time employment or contract opportunities. I've been writing code for over 15 years and have experience as a solo developer and in the non-profit world, as well as a manager of a small team of 5 staff/volunteers, but want to be able to focus on code. While I love Rails and have a long history with PHP, I consider myself to be mostly platform-agnostic as I love to learn: At my last position, I had to pick up Rails + Heroku and had the basics down in just about a week.
I develop Android apps for phones and tablets. I have published apps in the Google Play store. I have full life cycle software development experience, including: product concept development, product design, project planning, research and development, algorithm development, programming, testing, debugging, publishing apps to the Google Play store and app maintenance.

I am looking for a summer internship in July-August. Currently, I doing my master's degree in computer science at University of Copenhagen with graduation January 2022.
My special interest is in concurrent programming and massively-parallel hardware, but for this summer, I just want to get more experience working on a larger software project. I would be happy learning a new language as well.
I am looking for an apprenticeship setting were I work with a more experienced developer.
Experience: 3 years full-stack fintech development; 2 years academic research; various web development; BS+MS in Computer Science
I've worked on a variety of projects in the past few years, from web app frontends and backends to an automated trading system, as well as retro assembly programming in my spare time (it's the polar opposite of Java+Spring's high-level abstraction). I'm seeking full-time employment but would also be open to short-term positions.
I'm interested in challenging technical problems and working in new spaces where solutions are not obvious.
I created the technology that powered visual mobile session recording and playback on Android and iOS for a major analytics company (including novel privacy features), helped a major entertainment company move their games to the web, and have worked virtually everywhere in the stack - bare metal to scale.

Been tinkering with web dev for the past 5 or so years. Went back to school and recently completed my BS Comp Sci in nights/evenings while also working a full time job. Currently working for a small SaaS company with a jack-of-all-trades type position (customer support, web design, web development, bookkeeping, etc). Looking for my first 'real' engineering gig. Open to position at any point of the stack, though I am drawn toward the back-end and database layers more than the front-end.

I am a passionate and curious developer that likes to mingle with all aspects of stacks.
Looking for a junior/associate fulltime remote position. Ideally, a role that supports learning and growth, starts small and scales up. I'm motivated to improve products and investigate bugs.
Worked on a data processing desktop app during an internship, and interested in web development. Experienced with building user interfaces and fully-fledged applications in JavaScript, databases, and C#.
I'm going to graduate from my Masters in computer science this summer, hopefully. Previous to that I was actually working as an energy engineer and got my bachelor's in mechanical engineering. My research has been in the cybersecurity of industrial control systems, but I'm open to work outside of that field. I'd especially be interested in either data science/data engineering roles or robotics roles.
Had a health crisis and burned out of the industry while contracting at Google. Diagnosed, treated and ready to get back to a Django team (or any other tech stack that strikes a good balance between perfectionism and pragmatism) now.
I'm also looking to do emotional consulting work based on the book linked over at my dotcom. I noticed during my consulting years that teams had emotional issues more often than technical ones. I developed a system and approach to fix teams that can't get along, basically. Please contact me if you're interested.
R&D engineer (with Ph.D. in Computer Science), with experience on building large scale distributed systems for Computer Vision and Machine Learning and Information Retrieval.
About me: Currently a business analyst but have work experience with sql & other databases and BI tools. Have been teaching myself more sql, python over the past two years to try and get into Data Engineering. I have a strong command of sql and python and have learned DE best practices and technologies through personal projects.
I am great at finding my way quickly in existing codebases (e.g. the Rust compiler), architecturing software in such a way that other developers can actually read it, and helping non-technical people understand the software development process. Recent work includes enhancing a legacy Java codebase at an European pharmaceutical company, creating a desktop app in C# for data analysts at an European chemical company and coaching a self-taught C# programmer to improve his technical skills.
I have experience reading and implementing state of the art deep learning papers within the domains of object detection, image generation and text understanding. I'm open to any job tangentially related to machine learning.
Technologies: Can learn really quickly so this isn't a problem, I'm definitely keen to learn for the job depending on language, languages I want to work with are OCaml, Haskell, Rust, Go, C and C++.
About: Been programming since 11ish, started with Pascal, I've done a massive variety of things since then, from Parsers with Haskell to GUIs with Qt. Currently I am a Masters student studying Distributed Algorithms(Paxos, Raft, Snapshots, Exclusion, Leader Election etc.)
I am really looking for internships that will allow me to work on interesting/challenging problems.
I find distributed algorithms quite interesting and I do my own research into these topics as well.

Why me?
Former technical founder so I’m used taking a lot of ownership. A strong product sense: both apps I led and worked on were featured by Apple globally. Hungry to learn.
Why not me?
I’m not a senior engineer and I’m looking for a place that can offer some mentorship and the occasional pair programming session, so if you can’t offer that, we’re unlikely a fit.
I'm a tech director at a startup, and have significant experience at the technical leader, architect, and principal level.
I am looking to make a slight shift from building primarily web-oriented SaaS platforms into IoT. I have hobbyist-level experience with ESP32 platforms and would love a tech leadership role in a young venture or a rapid growth unit in a larger company working on large numbers of sensors, resilient data architectures, and beautiful functional UIs.

Desired position: Senior Developer/Engineering Manager/Software Architect
I have been employed in software development for almost 10 years and have written code for significantly longer. I am a deep specialist in databases and a good generalist in most other areas. I built myself as a T-shaped developer. I have worked databases, back-end, front-end (web and native, mobile and desktop) and testing throughout my time. With databases, I have experience with everything from relational algebra theory (I studied C.J. Date) to database design and normalisation to query, procedure and index optimisation. Throughout my career, I have developed a systemic viewpoint and an ability to understand how different components of a project and different teams interact together, all in order to walk the path of technical leadership. As a true engineer, I understand the importance of measuring before changing. Also, I am a sociable person and I have a teaching degree and have taught on numerous occasions with excellent results.
Due to my experience, I am currently aiming for a software architect/engineering manager/team lead role, or a role with growth opportunities toward a similar tech leadership position, a position in which I can grow and polish the skills of colleagues. From a tech stack POV, I am most excited by opportunities to work in Rust and opportunities to work on free open-source software. If you are looking to make the world a better place and need an engineer contact me.
