The fact that Hooke posted this makes me even more curious about the temptation to consider Cybernetics as an alternative to "modern" science. (Modern like the art)
I think cybernetics has a far stronger theoretical grounding than artificial intelligence (a term literally invented to be useful in grant applications). But Cybernetics is uncomfortable because it brings purpose and teleology back to science. It also harkens to the pre-symbolic information flows that govern so much of the world and confound our rational minds.
