Why? You can be an apple fan and just not in the right bracket to afford the latest devices. I know plenty of people who love apple but they are still on iPhone 7 and 2015 macbook since they cannot afford anything newer. That's absolutely fine. It's like I love Omega watches but I can't afford a brand new one - so I have a vintage one instead since that was what I could afford.
Well you wouldn't, but then maybe you haven't met some watch snobs. To some people if you can't afford a brand new Rolex/omega and have to "settle" for a vintage one you're a cheap ass.
My point is that any group for literally any product ever will have people trying to one up each other.
