It all seems reasonable to me. Caring about shortened names is putting a lot of emphasis on something trivial. Programming gets a lot harder than that.
I understand your view and I don't think it's wrong. I have a different set of values for code, and I do like to hang out with people who think like you for periodic reality checks.
