Ask HN: How To Prevent Abuse of Image Hosting in a Personal Project
3 points by scanny on Nov 5, 2020 | hide | past | favorite | 1 comment
I want to publish my small tool (just a showcase) that allows uploading of photos and manual geotagging by clicking on a map. I intend to host the images.

What steps can I take to prevent abuse and learn of the common malicious uses?

E.g. Stop people uploading child abuse images.

Does this sort of thing require extensive resourcing, and instead I should just manually check and hope for the best?

I’d offload the headache to someone like https://imagekit.io/ (no affiliation but happy to have used them on a couple of projects).
