I failed installing the server a few weeks ago.

Got tangled up somewhere and didn't know where I was the next day. Maybe I'll try it again if Mattermost doesn't do it.

Mattermost seems pretty to-the-point. Really not getting what's so hard about chat with some basic formatting.

For purely text chat, at a previous company we used Zulip. I still think that is the best implementation of 'topics' (like threads in slack).
