Facebook’s original post makes it sound like the ban will be for days or weeks after the election (while results are being tabulated and maybe while a change in control is occurring). From https://about.fb.com/news/2020/10/preparing-for-election-day... :

Surely it makes little difference after the election... Who is going to be buying political ads? The good thing to do now would be to cancel all the existing political ad campaigns, and let us all get on with voting without constantly being nudged.
Wonder if this is because the concern of a delay for counting the results? I wonder if true it might take days or even weeks to find out who won... so I could see suspending it while waiting for results. This is surely an election and year for the history books. Kinda been feeling like I‘ve been living in some movie this year.
