Why? Google's pixel line of phones uses incredible AI/ML techniques to improve low-light photography. They even suggested in a blog post that they are using their trained models to infer color and detail information which is simply not present in the raw sensor data.
So retouching is totally fine if google does it. But how dare Korean and Chinese manufacturers (who are targeting a certain market) use the same techniques on faces?!?! The hypocrisy is strong with this one.
