Oh man, this brings back memories. When I first got started in my career we developed on an IBM 370 and I spent a lot of time on 3270s. Eventually, though, we got our own VAX that we didn't have to share with the rest of the company and never looked back. Still, it took a while to adjust to the early EDT editor.
I don't miss EDT so much, but I wish someone would create an OSS version of EVE/TPU. As a developer, that's one of the things I remember best about moving from RSTS to VMS. That and the "symbolic debugger".
