Bottom line: People are professionals and most can figure out what they need to do their best work. For some it's in an office, for others it's somewhere else. It may even be different places depending on the project and where they are in life. Yes, I know companies and teams need a certain degree of consistency, but if they would stop being paternalistic to their employees and trust them to figure it out it would make such a difference. Work wherever you can do your best work and if an employer won't support you in that, find a new employer.
