I thought I was going crazy when I first noticed the chronostasis effect on my watch (that is where the ticking second hand seems to stick in place when you first glance at it). Years later by chance I came across a paper explaining the mechanism.



I would often "see" the second hand tick, but not move forward by a second. More like a "flick" than a tick.


Same. I've always wondered this, but never enough to google. Amazing the things I learn just clicking random links here.
