Btw nixers is a nice little forum. Check it out if you are into minimalism, suckless software, macos/linux/bsds and such. Very cool community

I tried to join but the 'are you a human' riddles flummoxed me.

I eventually got to one that I could answer. The answer was awk as an alternative to sed. But I had to look through at least five until I found one that I even understood the question/riddle.

This attracted me. Every community with any gatekeeping is always wonderful. Like metafilter ($5) or sdf.org and github.com (you have to understand some technical thing)

Yeah, I did get one eventually, but only after some extensive Googling.

Although I did successfully register the whole experience completely put me off from participating. I don't really want to be in a community with such extreme gatekeeping.

sounds like sour grapes .

Indeed this is a great resource. I was pleased to to learn about it just now. I would be curious if you or anyone else have other suggestions for that are similar i.e great in depth *nix content and pleasant to look at like this one. Nixcraft is also good resource although not quite as in depth on each subject. Cheers.
