From the link, I had to run

  sudo do-release-upgrade -d
to get mine to upgrade.

I'm always wary of upgrading from an LTS to the next one instead of preinstalling from scratch. Did you run into any issues?

For LTS Ubuntu triggers an update once the .1 release is out in July maybe. I did the last two upgrades from LTS to LTS that way on my laptop and had no issues.

I didn't run into any issues myself, however I'm not running a GUI or anything on this machine so I didn't have as many dependencies to upgrade. The whole process took maybe 20 minutes.

Thank you. Wow, they removed Python 2.7 huh? Had to clear out some packages to let that go through.

Python 2.x is EOL Jan 2020

Yeah but didn't think anyone would have the balls to do it haha.

IIRC Arch did that years ago.

No, it was a few months ago, and it's still a work in progress: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/python2/

No worries. Yep, that's an exciting change they've gone and made.

There probably are PPAs that allow you to install 2 if you need it.
