I felt the same was last year before I had ever deployed a server publicly. It's really not that bad for small things. I run Nginx and some docker containers and proxy to those docker containers for certain subdomains. Now that I know how to do it, I moved from AWS to DO and the new setup was probably 20-30min to get everything set up, including Let's Encrypt.
