You can also just get a micro instance from the major cloud providers. Just as cheap, and more reliable and usable with all the cloud tooling.

That's out of context. I was responding to OP getting a cheap VPS provider. If you want a cheap server then it's better to just get a tiny instance from a major cloud instead. Most also have free tiers.
