This resonates strongly with me. I founded a startup as the technical co founder and now do a mix of product and engineering management.
I agree with many of the others here: a small company / startup as an early engineer or a technical product manager sounds like it would fit well. Or, if you have the desire, founding your own company means you get to wear many hats.
