Software as a wide spread phenomenon has been around since what late 1970s (I am talking about business and individuals using it). Compare it to building industry, accounting, law and any of the hard sciences. They have been around for thousands of years. It is kind of crazy that we insist on perfection withe less than 50 years of practice. Heck we can't even decide on one language yet - and the one that are standard (I am talking about you JavaScript) - people keep re-inventing them (Coffee Script, TypeScript, etc.)!!!
