I think we've reached a stage where this is true for all of tech. SV libertarians may balk at this, but this kind of regulation is the only thing that will change the incentives. It will make the financial cost of doing evil high enough that profit-driven product execs will no longer have the option to pursue these paths.

In a certain sense, that regulation actually protects the company's character, allowing the success of good ideas, penalizing the profit-at-all-costs execs.
