Isn't this one of they key points FOR Wayland, though? I thought Wayland specifically stops applications from having access to other chunks of the screen without special permissions?

"Doesn't give access by default" is very different from "cannot be made to work".

I'd assume the complaint is about the latter, which is a issue. I can't imagine anyone complaining about the first.

Agreed. The extra security given by the latter is a huge win for Wayland, but it needs to be possible to give access when required.

Lack of support for screensharing is why I stopped using Wayland.
