The Bitmanip extension definition document for RISC-V explains a wide variety of what were, for me, unfamiliar but terribly useful bitwise operations. Well worth reading even if you have no particular interest in RISC-V. Many of the instructions detailed have analogs in AVX, NEON, and recent POWER instruction sets. Often these instructions are poorly explained in the official manuals.
