A 1500W microwave at 10 cents/kWh will cost 15 cents per hour. A 65" TV might use 100W, 2 hours a day would cost you $6 a year.

A refrigerator will get you because it's running 10 hours a day. Much bigger, is the giant heat sink that is your water heater.




The spike here was to $9/kWh.

100W * 2 hours * ($9 / (Kilowatt * Hour) = $1.80
