RISC-V has pretty big registers and a lot of them, so you will need more tubes than you otherwise might...



I'd probably say a 6800/6805 is about the right complexity for doing in tubes and not breaking the bank


there's an embedded subset with half the number of registers


That's still huge for the technology. The tube machines were in the order of a hundred or so gates, an RV32E is around 10k-15k.


(and people have talked about doing 16-bit subsets)
