I don't know the user interface, but some four years ago, when I worked on one of the most important databases in ads, we've had a bunch of business requests preempted by preparing for compliance with the upcoming EU privacy law (we didn't even know its name back then, only that we'll need a way to erase all data about a user on a short notice). I would be rather surprised if all that investment was wasted.
