why can't we create laws after it happens. Law can be more precise and useful in that case rather than preemptive laws based on speculation.



Laws that are narrow and targeted often times leave open loopholes. You can end up with a regulatory agency and various companies playing a game of cat and mouse leading to a huge regulatory burden and tons of wasted resources on both sides. Sometimes it's better to just establish a simple even playing field with clear and comprehensive rules of behavior.


Maybe you can if you have enough influence / money.


FAANG's have enough influence/money.


I’m not sure I trust them to act in my best interests.


FAANGs heavily lobbied for net neutrality


Just because they lobbied your way on one issue doesn't mean their lobbying will always align with your views.


They've lobbied against my interests far more than that though.
