What should a developer know before building a public web site? (stackoverflow.com)

This has definitely been posted before... I feel like StackOverflow isn't the right tool for this kind of info, either. Wasn't there some kind of website that sought to document all of the "checklist"-style information out there?

There are many, I think. I know of one offhand: http://lite.launchlist.net/

I'm making a wiki with some of them but that's the only one I have on hand, aside from the SO post.

That's a nice looking site. Thanks for sharing it.

Not sure, but it does feel like a wiki-style Website is better suited for maintaining the list.

Stackoverflow is a wiki-style website. Anyone with enough rep can edit the accepted / top-voted answer.

Indeed, according to the stats it has been edited 71 times by 31 users, the biggest contribution from a single user is just 31% of the total. Seems pretty wiki to me.

I see. I look at StackOverflow, but have never engaged in posting, so I didn't know that the site worked that way.

Look at that! Learned something new today!

I'm not convinced an XML sitemap is crucial for seo—except perhaps for the new extensions (video, etc.)
