all i know is i have to pay an ENORMOUS amount of money to pay for freight from US to Australia
So is this going to make it worse? Because this is an enormous incentive NOT to buy any US goods

It's not going to make it any cheaper. This will mainly effect the cost of others shipping goods to you.
