The thing about video evidence is that it should be treated like witness testimony should - verified with other evidence. Manipulative editing can have similar effects like the James O'Keefe's infamous Acorn libel. If someone makes a deep-fake of Donald Trump shooting someone on main street with a rifle the lack of actual blood, 9-11 calls in the area or similar would give it away as a fake even if technically perfect.
