during college I came into the habit of trying to speak about a class of things in a general way, rather than speaking about one specific thing. this works great for math and computer science. this does not work great with your girlfriend. imagine holding your girl and saying this:
"women are so wonderful. the smell of their hair, the feel of their warmth when you hold them close and they press against your body...".
you might think this sounds romantic. women do not. instead, say this:
"you are so wonderful. the smell of your hair, the feel of your warmth when I hold you close and you press against my body...".
