I live in Europe. Yes, closing options too early is bad. But, a lifetime of debt slavery chasing an academic dream is worse.
The big problem is cost.
We havs part of the cost answer in moocs - khan academy is great. The rest of the flipped classroom must come from p2p learning and tutor networks.
