At 45 you are solidly Generation X, not a Boomer.

BBSes were an awesome experience--modem AT commands, the excitement of getting an account on an exclusive system, chatting with the sysop, pondering the advantages of zmodem vs. BiModem... I'd consider growing up with BBSes and the languages of the day a much better primer than growing up with touchscreens and walled gardens.




I was targeting the “or” in the parent statement:

I wanted to point out there was this small generation of us (X) who “didn’t grow up with the internet” yet were instrumental in building it up.

I’m with you on the advantages growing up with 8-bit computing in the 80s. We’re a unique generation with a foot in both worlds.
