Spitballin' here but, if Twitter allowed for "registering" a bot, then these sorts of fun and light-hearted bots could easily stick around.

If someone has a legit reason to fear registering a bot they run, then it's probably for "not-good" reasons. And in my estimation "not-good" could be as innocuous as those follower-fishing bots.




Most bots that I've encountered on twitter "register" a bot by saying it's a bot in the profile.

The "up-to-no-good" bots do no such thing, of course.
