How is that new, newsworthy or even relevant?

My guess:

They rely on open source, and they figured they'd be a good citizen and mirror some of the software projects that they rely on.

It probably isn't, but I hadn't heard of it before and it gives me another option to download some of those big ISOs if the other places suck :)
