Fair Trade standards are stricter than Rainforest Alliance. You can read the guidelines here, which includes protections against deforestation:

Fair trade certified shade grown coffee is probably your best bet for farmer and earth friendly coffee.




Fair Trade standards are actually considered to be equal to Rainforest Alliance standards in terms of environmental and social sustainability. Rainforest Alliance farms prohibit deforestation, have specific guidelines for protecting wildlife and water quality, and demand that workers are paid minimum wage/have the right to organize + more.
