Isn't "serverless" the (slow) realization of Sun's agent-based grid computing?

I bought into Sun's vision. So much so I was gobsmacked by AWS' strategy. Which is genius in its own way:

Virtualize every interface. Versus deploy self contained mobile code called "agents".

Watching "cloud" computing evolve into "grid" computing reminds me of the quote:

"Every sufficiently complex 'C' program reinvents LISP, poorly."




The last line is a paraphrase of Greenspun's 10th Law[0]:

"Any sufficiently complicated C or Fortran program contains an ad-hoc, informally-specified bug-ridden slow implementation of half of Common Lisp."
