It's amazing how easily people forget about the long history of European imperial conquest, which continued well into the 20th century.

Some people, I'm fully cognizant of our (UK) colonial history, I just don't feel much reason to be appalled or proud of it, I wasn't born at the time.

The history of the East India Company is absolutely fascinating (in a fairly horrible way).
