I've settled on virtually the same thing. Safari, medium nib, Noodler's Black. The Lamy pens can be had very cheaply and write well. I have several of the Safaris in various nib sizes as well as an AL-STAR, which is virtually the same thing but with a slightly larger metal barrel (which looks a little nicer).
